Join Studio Bricolage and Bradstreet Craftshouse Restaurant for “Mixology: Cocktail Basics” This entertaining class, the first in a series, will introduce guests to the history of the cocktail, teach you how to mix memorable cocktails at home and reveal the origins of your favorite spirits.

Along with jazz, the cocktail is one of America's gifts to the world. You will learn about the birth of these lovely beverages and enjoy a pre-cocktalian punch from colonial times. Bradstreet's mixologists will explain basic bar gear: shaker, muddler, strainer, juicer, zester, and jigger. You will get hands-on experience measuring, juicing, muddling, straining and shaking, the subtle and necessary steps to creating a great cocktail. Last, but certainly not least, you’ll get a brief introduction to the science of fermentation and distillation and how they create a wide range of spirits. Tasting Bradstreet's carefully selected collection of gin, rum, tequila, whiskey, brandy, vodka and rye whiskey will follow.

Topics for the second and third MIXOLOGY sessions, which will be scheduled after the first of the year, include “Liquors, Liqueurs, Garnishing” and “‘Building Better Bitters."
